The first intra-university Olympiad in ophthalmology was held at Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy For two days, the first intra-university Olympiad in ophthalmology was held at our academy. The competition was attended by residents of the first and second years of study in the specialty "ophthalmology", as well as students of the fifth and sixth years of the medical and pediatric faculties. The first day of the Olympiad, May 7, was devoted to testing practical skills. Future ophthalmologists performed ophthalmoscopy of the fundus and examination of the anterior segment of the eye; performed skiascopy; practiced the technique of applying Pierce sutures and intradermal sutures; made diagnoses and developed treatment plans based on clinical tasks; Spectacle correction was selected. The program of the second day included theoretical tests, intellectual games and logical tasks. The event began with a bright competition of business cards for the teams. Then the participants fought in "My Game", demonstrating their erudition, and completed tasks in clinical pharmacology. Of particular interest to the participants and guests was the intellectual battle in the format "What? Where? When?" The knowledge and practical skills of the participants were evaluated by an independent jury led by the head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, ophthalmologist of the highest category Svetlana Kharintseva. At the end of two tense days, the winners were determined. The first place was taken by the team "VMD - Merry, Young Doctors" led by captain Chimita Tsyrempilova. The second place went to the team "Seven Myopic Samurai" led by Anastasia Kabanova. The third place was won by the "Akulists" team under the leadership of captain Vladimir Kravchenko. The fourth place was taken by theteam "League of Clarity" led by captain Tsyndyma Dasheeva. The organization of the Olympiad and the training of participants were provided by the staff of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy: assistants of the department Natalia Makarchuk, Sergey Bykov and Anastasia Makarova. 
- The first Olympiad in ophthalmology showed that such competitions are necessary: they aroused genuine interest and helped to consolidate the theoretical and practical skills of future ophthalmologists. We plan to make the Olympiad annual.
