Imagine: a war zone, urgent evacuation of the wounded, a few minutes to make a decision: lives depend on it. We need to act clearly, quickly, and coherently. The Second All-Russian Patriotic Forum of Students "Defenders of the Fatherland", held in Yekaterinburg, was full of such tasks, as close as possible to real combat conditions.
Representatives of the volunteer detachment "Heart of Surgery" of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy are among the best.
For a while, our guys, together with other participants, became trainee doctors of the military hospital: they triaged the "patients" and stabilized their condition in the red and yellow zones; On a mannequin with a porcine thorax organ complex, suturing of the lung wound and drainage of the pleural cavity were practiced. Also, under conditions of stress and lack of time, the image of the forearm was analyzed, manual reduction was performed and a cast was applied; In case of a perforating wound of the lower lip, primary surgical debridement and plastic surgery with local tissues with millimeter accuracy were performed.
The program ended with the intellectual game "What? Where? When?" in military field and maxillofacial surgery, triage and medical rehabilitation: our guys have worthily passed the test for the speed of decision-making and the ability to work in a team.
"This is my first Olympiad. It was a joy to see so many like-minded people from all over the country. I realized even more deeply and acutely: you are part of a great force based on courage and devotion to the Motherland, and it can always rely on us," says Aldar Dambayev, a member of the "Heart of Surgery" team, a third-year student of the Faculty of Medicine.
