The ChSMA Studio Theatre "On a Quiet Street" capped its theatrical season with a spectacular fourth performance of the comedy "Dinner with a Fool," based on the play by French playwright Francis Veber.
" The play not only evokes genuine laughter but also prompts us to reflect on our own judgments and stereotypes, " notes Chita resident Ilona Tarasova, one of the spectators.
What's the plot? Members of aristocratic society adhere to an eccentric tradition: weekly comic dinners. The idea is that each participant brings a "naive guest"—a person unaware of the true purpose of the gathering. The audience enjoys their reactions, and the one who puts on the funniest performance wins a prize.
Publisher Pierre Brochant ( medical student Danil Artyukhov ) is preparing for another such evening and chooses François Pignon, a good-natured and clumsy accountant ( future pediatrician Kirill Filatov), as his "victim."
Broshan is counting on an easy victory, but fate has other plans: his attempts to ridicule Pinyon result in a series of absurd incidents that boomerang back on the organizer himself. The moral is clear.
…Now laughter, now the silence of empathy: the actors' performance deeply touched the audience. The play shows that we often make mistakes when we judge people hastily, because simplicity can conceal wisdom, and prudence, emptiness.
At the end, the audience thunderously applauded both the actors involved in the play and the entire theater studio staff, including its director, Honored Cultural Worker of the Chita Region Natalya Karpenko.
Traditionally, the season concludes with awards ceremonies for the staff. In addition to the "Golden Joint of the Year" humorous prize, recognition was given to those who demonstrated initiative and activism in the theater's life. Special thanks were expressed to long-time members of the "On a Quiet Street" theater, including Sergei Izmestyev, PhD, a senior lecturer in the Department of Pathological Physiology and a devoted student
