"Transbaikalia: the homeland of talents" A book with this title was presented at the Lundstrem Regional Philharmonic. The author of the publication, a veteran of Trans-Baikal journalism Sergey Zabelin, has done a truly large-scale work, returning to a wide audience the names, destinies and scientific discoveries of outstanding countrymen. The publication was written on the eve of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences and is timed to coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
- National unity was forged in real battles on all fronts: in military, in economic competition, in scientific, scientific and technological, educational. This formed our community," the governor of the region Alexander Osipov addressed the guests. - We have every opportunity to lead the world... Therefore, let us spend this year creatively and talentedly, with our inclinations and skills, with our accumulated enormous values, strengthening our mutual relations, strengthening the internal strength of the Russian state and the Russian people.
The event brought together representatives of the regional authorities, the scientific and educational community of the region. The hall was attended by the leadership of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy, employees of the scientific library of the university, activists of the youth scientific community of the academy and its students from the first to the sixth year, for whom science has become an important part of their professional path and personal interest. Sergey Zabelin's book clearly showed how the multinational environment of Transbaikalia became the basis for the birth of world-class scientists. It contains the stories of 27 natives of the region, awarded the title of Russian academicians. These are geologists, miners, historians, orientalists, economists, farmers, chemists, doctors and representatives of other sciences. Among them is Vladimir Nikolaevich Ivanov, who headed the Chita State Medical Institute for 20 years.
"Vladimir Nikolaevich became the first graduate of the institute to head his university," says Natalia Laryova, acting rector of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy. "He made a lot of efforts to improve the material and technical base: the Morphological Building, two nine-storey dormitories for 1250 places, a sports and recreation camp on Lake Arakhley were built, the Faculty of Pediatrics, the Research Institute of Medical Ecology, the Faculty of Advanced Training of Doctors, the Department of Higher Nursing Education at the Faculty of Medicine were opened, a research sector and 9 interdepartmental scientific laboratories were created, new departments were organized. However, the main heritage of Academician Ivanov is his scientific school for the study of adaptive and maladaptive shifts in the body that occur in the conditions of a sharply continental climate and the unusual biogeochemical situation of Transbaikalia.
Vladimir Ivanov is a health worker, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, author of hundreds of scientific papers on biochemistry. His scientific heritage is impressive: about 600 publications, 16 monographs, more than 20 patents and rationalization proposals. The scientist was invited to lecture at universities in Europe, Asia and America. Laureate of the V. I. Vernadsky Prize, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Honorary Citizen of the Chita Region, holder of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Badge of Honor - he is rightfully considered a world-class scientist. The memory of Vladimir Nikolaevich is immortalized by a memorial plaque on the main building of the Chita State Medical Academy.
