Faculty of Dentistry

In 1958, the Faculty of Dentistry at the Chita State Medical Institute opened its doors to future dentists for the first time.

The formation of the faculty took place under the leadership of the rector of the institute Y.D. Ryzhkov and the assistant dean of the medical faculty, associate professor S.I. Rassudov (1958-1961). With the participation of the first dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Associate Professor M.M. Tsarinsky (1962-1965), the first departments of the faculty were created, the educational and methodological basis of the educational process was laid, the material and technical base of the departments was formed, the future medical and scientific personnel began their formation. In 1960, the first specialized department of the faculty was founded - the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry. The first head of the department was M.M. Tsarinsky. Currently, the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry with a course of propaedeutics of dental diseases is headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor V.L. Kukushkin. In 1960, a course of prosthetic dentistry was created. The first head was the Major of the Medical Service, dentist V.G. Povazhny. Later, the course was redesigned into the department of the same name, which in 1966 was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences G.I. Nazarov, and from 2002 to the present time it is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Y.L. Pisarevsky.

After the departure of Mikhail Markovich Tsarinsky, he was replaced as dean of the faculty by a talented surgeon, participant in the Great Patriotic War V.V. Lyubarsky (1965-1970). During this period, the scientific potential of the faculty was increased, nine Ph.D. dissertations were defended. In the next five years (1970-1974), the dean's office was headed by an experienced surgeon F.E. Vlasyuk.

In the period from 1979 to 1984, the Dean of the Faculty was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Y.S. Boyarov, his assistant was Associate Professor A.G. Shcherbak. In these years, new pedagogical technologies were introduced into the educational process, the Olympiad movement was improved, thanks to which dental students repeatedly became participants and prize-winners of All-Russian and All-Union Olympiads.

In 1980, a course of surgical dentistry was organized under the guidance of Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service V.A. Lyubarsky, from 1988 to 2022 the department was headed by Professor I.S. Pinelis, who subsequently handed over the leadership to Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Y.I. Pinelis.

In 1983, the course of pediatric dentistry was formed, it was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences G.I. Frolova. Subsequently, the course was transformed into the department of the same name. The first head of which was Candidate of Medical Sciences S.N. Postoyuk. At present, the department is headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor A.M. Petrova.

From 1984 to 1988, the faculty was headed by Associate Professor E.A. Radnaev, deputy - A.M. Sopov. By this time, the enrollment of students had increased to 125 people. In 1988, the assistant of the Department of Surgical Dentistry I.S. Pinelis successfully defended his first doctoral dissertation in the specialty "surgical dentistry".

From 1988 to 2007, the Dean of the Faculty was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.S. Pinelis. On his initiative, in 1989, the training of scientific personnel for the university and the faculty in graduate school in dentistry began for the first time.
