St. Luke: Inspiration for Future Doctors A true doctor must combine professional skill with humanity and compassion - this is the main message of the church dedicated to St. Luke (Valentin Voyno-Yasenetsky) on the territory of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy.
"The unique path of St. Luke, on which the art of medicine is intertwined with spiritual service, warms hearts, teaches future doctors to be attentive and not indifferent," says Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities Ksenia Starodubtseva.

As part of the grant project "Doctors from God: Heritage of the Past and Present to the Generation of the Future", students of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy visited the excursion "St. Luke and Transbaikalia". Under the guidance of Irina Vasilyeva, the head of the project, the students walked through the historical places of Chita, directly related to the life and work of the saint. The journey began at the bust opposite the Academy and St. Luke's Church - a symbolic beginning of the path, emphasizing the inextricable link of the Academy with the heritage of an outstanding doctor and spiritual figure. The students visited the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, where St. Luke married Anna Lanskaya, visited the buildings of the former Missionary and Vocational Schools, where the Red Cross detachment was stationed during the Russo-Japanese War, in which the future saint worked. The tour ended at the locations of the barracks of the Kiev Infirmary: the children visited the Yablonovy Ridge near Kashtak, at the Voinskaya station and the Dalny Railway Station. ![]()
"It was very interesting: we not only learned new facts, but truly immersed ourselves in the era, felt the atmosphere of those years and even more deeply realized the mission of a doctor - to selflessly serve people, following the example of St. Luke," Elizaveta Firsova, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics, shared her impressions.
