Chita schoolchildren tried on the role of a pediatrician A career guidance lesson dedicated to the profession of a pediatrician was held at the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy for students of the 7A grade of the multidisciplinary gymnasium No 12. It was conducted by the assistant of the Department of Propaedeutics of Children's Diseases of the Academy, Candidate of Medical Sciences, pediatrician Irina Kargina. The children learned what a pediatrician really does: it is not only treatment, but also disease prevention, regular examinations of children, assessment of their physical development and consultations with parents. Particular emphasis was placed on the attentiveness and patience of the doctor, because young patients cannot always tell about their complaints.
The practical part was the most exciting. Schoolchildren tried themselves in the role of doctors: they examined the newborn's mannequin, measured temperature, saturation and blood pressure, conducted auscultation, learned to swaddle and assess the condition of the baby. Everyone was able to feel the responsibility and importance of medical work. Of particular interest was the story about the history of pediatrics and the development of medical education in the region on the example of the Chita State Medical Academy. The children learned how the profession was formed and what significance it has today
